One of the first canes I made for dad.

The Junkyard Dog

Bradford Pear branch

Very knotty

Leave on some underbark and sand with 100 grit

Then sand with 400 grit

Starting the tenon

Mortise roughed in with drill

Sand, whittle and fit

Completed mortise

Completed tenon, and first coat of 100% pure tung oil

Fitted mortise and tenon.  Had to strip the tung oil
with acetone before gluing.

Glued.  Let try, then whittle the excess tenon and sand smooth.

Then it's just applying coats of tung oil and sanding
with 1000 grit or 0000 Steel Wool between each coat.
